Good thing I'm way smarter than myself.

The cats and I are home alone this morning, so I decided to join my furry babies outside for breakfast. I have such a hard time eating by myself - the ghost of eating disorders past rear its ugly head and make me think, like, "what's the point? It's not like anyone can check up on me, plus isn't it better if I save all this food? Then I don't have to buy new groceries before Ronnie gets home!". Stupid stupid stupid idiocy!

But hey, thank God I'm a grown-up now and know I don't have to listen to every insane thought that pops into this messed up head of mine. To help the good thoughts out and keep the bad ones in the trash where they belong, I usually try to make really nice meals for myself when I have to eat alone. That way, when I ask myself "what's the point?", I can answer: "The point is that this food is awesome and beautiful and delicious and you'll feel so much better if you eat it! Plus, when you're done, you're allowed to watch Glee." And the stupid thoughts will be like "hmm, yeah, OK. It does look pretty delicious and I do love Glee". And I'll be like "hahahaaaa! Outsmarted myself again!"

Today's breakfast: Freshly squeezed orange juice, blueberry tea, pink grapefruit and sandwiches with brie and smoked ham + brie and apricot marmelade.

  2. szexesnyuljork: Haha, it's so funny that the quote on your blog - "You realize that there's no point to do anything if nobody's watching" - is basically what this post is all about! ;)

I did eat this, though I could only finish one of the grapefruit halves before I was too full to get another bite down. That's fine though, it means I have a healthy afternoon snack!

  3. The quote - I didn't even think of that! True!
And also - I was wondering if I could eat all those beautiful sandwiches and fruits and coffee, because I have a really small stomach, so the half grapefruit makes sense! :)

  4. Actually it's not coffee but blueberry tea - it was only a couple of years ago that I realized I never even liked coffee that much, I just had it because, well, you're supposed to like coffee. I instantly decided that I'm too old for that kind of behaviour and now I only eat and drink things that I really like! :)

I've heard many times that I eat way bigger breakfasts than most poeple, apparently it's hard to a lot of people to eat in the mornings. To me, breakfast is the best meal of the day, I can sit and eat for an hour!

  5. I hate coffee, and I'm proud of it! To like coffee is almost obligatory... :] but sometimes, when I drink some, it makes me so full, a can't eat anything for a few hours. I think that's why I thought: "wow, that's some big breakfast!" :D

  6. Coffee haters of the world, unite! I do drink coffee once in a while - if it's really good espresso coffee I can endure the taste, and as you said, drinking coffee is almost mandatory in some situations. But it makes me all tingly and light headed... kind of like smoking does, which suggests that it's not the greatest of things to put into my body! Never felt full after drinking it though, but I do get nauseous and then I don't want to eat anything either way :)

  7. I love a little coffee in the morning, but only if its decaf or half-caf. I can't handle the full strength stuff. Like you said I always feel light headed and shaky afterward.
This breakfast looks delicious - and makes me jealous that I just had toast with strawberry jam. Also, I really want to try some blueberry tea now! :)

  11. Jess, blueberry tea is the best! Not too sweet but not as bitter as Earl grey can get. I'm such a tea nerd, I always have at least ten different kinds to choose from at home... but come to think of it, my tea addiction probably has something to do with the fact that I'm obsessed with pretty tea jars. :)

Actually you're right, decaf is pretty good! We have an espresso machine at home (my boyfriend is crazy about coffee) and whenever he makes me a cup of decaf cappuccino, I do enjoy the taste.

Regina Carmeli, thanks so much, dear!

Bonnie, well I'm so happy you stopped by! <3 Thank you so much, even though I do have two cats and they are now fighting about which one of them you think is beautiful... ;)

  15. Your photos are so lovely! And that breakfast looks absolutely delicious. I'm not one for breakfast (I usually end up rushing out the door without anything, which I know isn't too healthy, sigh), but if I had the time to prepare myself a spread like that every morning, I'd be far more tempted!

I just thought I'd note that your blog is one of the only ones I regularly comment on... probably because your photos are gorgeous and your writing just makes me want to have a conversation with you! So that's pretty cool :) Just thought I should let you know, haha.

PS - I love tea as well! I've never tried blueberry, but I'm sipping iced raspberry zinger right now, mmm!
