An effort to look effortless.

Black layered halterneck dress with transparent details, Johanna Vikman. Black long blazer, Monki. Brown leather satchel, Vero Moda. Cheetah print tights, H&M. Black army boots, Vagabond. Lipstick, "Lady Red" by L'Oréal.

This is the outfit I wore yesterday when I went into Stockholm to hang out with friends and have dinner (and then a couple of drinks). It's almost funny - I dress like this basically every time I go into what used to be my home town for twenty years. Black, black, black. I guess I don't want to be the girl who stands out, more like someone who doesn't care too much about what she's wearing, but who looks good anyway. Or something like that. So... yeah. I'm trying to make an effort to look effortless. Hmm.

I just don't feel very comfortable in that city, probably because I keep running into people I haven't seen for ages - and I haven't seen them for ages for a reason. And if I'm going to have people judging me, I don't want to give them too much to work with. All black is sort of hard to judge.

Black or not, I really loved the outfit, this dress is such a dream! And you know me, now I want to go on and on, telling you stories about how I got it or how it made me feel, possibly even translate a column about it (haha!). But... I can't. The Swedish holiday Midsummer is approaching fast and me and Ronnie have so, so, so, so, so, so, so much to do before friends and family arrive tomorrow. I will do my best to keep you posted - literally - but at least now you know why if my posts are a bit late and not as numerous as usual these next four days.

Talk to you soon, guys!

  11. MY GOD! Every time that you post and outfit, I think 'how can she top THIS?', but each and every time you manage to do exactly that: you top yourself every time, keeping it creative and fresh. Every single of your outfits is a huge surprise, though never dissapointing! Seriously, that's a talent. And the best part: you're not that aware of it- it just comes naturally to you (or so it seems...).

I absolutely love the vibe of the dress, the jacket, the boots, the sachet, the faux bob (looks really good on you! sophisticated); it's so poetic and arty (are you sure you don't live in Berlin?! :) And of course, that amazing shade of lipstick... I'm amazed L'Oreal hasn't yet approached you to model it, seriously.

    One word: WOW.

  15. HÅRET, Annika! Så himla himla himla fint. Fantastiskt. Hur ser det ut bakifrån? Är det en fläta, är det uppuffat med hårnålar?
Sedan är du ju så himla fin för övrigt, också. Kappan och väskan som hänger så där slarvigt elegant.

  16. Where did your hair go??
Did you just pin it back? How did you make it look like you have short hair? I figured you'd tell us if you got a haircut...

  17. HA! This is great! Again we are living on two different continents but similar wavelengths. I had to run a million errands today, so to reward myself I went into Top Shop (though I can't afford it at all) and found the most beautiful chiffony-layered dress, similar cut to the one you're wearing but a blush color. It's two sizes too big, but it was a quarter of the price and I think (hope, hope, hope) it can be tailored. Otherwise I'm going to wear it as you're wearing yours! With a nice cardigan/ blazer (to hide the extra bodice material).

Anyway I wrote you back re your email about NYC. Hope you got it? I sent it really late/ exhaused/ incoherent. Might have copied the wrong email address?

P.S. (Always with the P.S.s with me;)) I saw the loveliest model wearing all black today...I don't know what it is with all black? Why it's so flattering and makes people look so cool? One of my really smart friends told me something about it, like it started as this avant-garde thing in the 20s. Can't remember! Must look that up... Meantime these are pretty. And I was SO disappointed this morning when I went to read your blog and there was no post. But that's okay...That means this is a great part of my day now! xx

  30. Annika, what I love about your writing is that, unlike most fashion bloggers, you're so refreshingly genuine and honest. You're not afrad of exposing vulnerability and it is so endearing! :) Also, you are absolutely beautiful, and still manage to stay down-to-earth. I love your blog. xxx
