I know the backdrop should probably have been the Upper East Side and not my usual garden, and I promise I'll work on that for the future, but for now I had to work with what I've got. So, all together now: your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite, here we go!
Black dress, Sans Noblesse. Hat, Iguana Vintage Clothing. Over knee socks, Asos.
Black pony hair litas, Jeffrey Campbell.
Well, what can I say about this outfit? Maybe that I certainly was the only one at my dinner (party!) wearing a veiled hat. Or maybe that more than one person asked me if I came straight from a funeral - and, yes, someone actually asked if perhaps I was a burlesque dancer. I was so pleased and started telling him about the episode where Blair and Nate break up and Blair goes to see Chuck at Victrola, does her impromptu burlesque number on stage and ends up losing her virginity to Chuck in the back of his limo. For some reason, he didn't seem all that interested in my story. Strange, huh?
Anyway, I had a good time last night, and I must say my funeral/burlesque/Blair Waldorf look definitely made it even better! In fact, I'd say that this is probably my favorite outfit in... months, or even more. Amazing what a little inspiration can do (thanks again, Nastassja)! I absolutely want to do this more often - trying to interpret a specific style "on demand" - so whenever you have an idea, hit me with it.
And please, let me know what you think!
You look amazing Annika! You actually remind me of the mysterious assistant of a magician or a modern witch of sorts (which is good, naturally). But yes, I think I could see this outfit around the scandalous Upper East Side ;)
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is amazing, gorgeous dress! I can't believe someone actually asked if you were a burlesque dancer!

You look amazing!! Gossip girls is the best! :D
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty! I would have curled up like a woodlouse in embarrassment if someone asked me if I had been to a funeral/was a burlesque dancer, but you rocked the look.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Everything fits so well together and the black veil is pure style! Love all the funny comments you got, everyone was probably just jealous because you wee the best dressed there! Thanks for you comment on my publishing industry post by the way - it really means a lot to know that other people enjoy my writing! And you and Roz are two of my very favourite bloggers xx

Thank you so, so much!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I edit in Photoshop and I don't exactly think about what I'm doing... But here I used brightness/contrast, curves, desaturated the yellow parts a bit since they were very strong, and color balance (a few percent cyan and some blue). Oh, and the clone stamp to fix smaller imperfections when needed. Hope this helps!
Annika, tottallyyyyy LOVE this Gossip Girl inspiring look! I seriously have to do something like this in the near future too!

Wow! Stunning! I think a woman can not look nicer. The hat is sooo Gossip Girl. I'd say challange passed with flying colors!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit, black is one of my favorite colors - and the whole idea of engaging you community like this is just awesome! I may have to try it myself, sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThe close-up of you is just perfect!
I have no words to say how much i am impressed with your outfit, but it's the most beautiful you have ever made up, imo. The hat really had some personal touch!! Have you done something with your makeup too or is it just the lighting/black dress that emphasize it sooo much?
ReplyDeleteloving your take on blair! I mean it's blair-like, but it also has your personal input. <3
ReplyDeleteYou never cease to amaze me... You look so incredible and fierce Annika!
ReplyDeleteI think it's your best outfit :) you look great! and I still can't believe that you take photos on your own...

Oh, I adore you all dressed up like this! You look beautiful. I love being the only one dressed up somewhere. I get some odd questions about my attire too. There was the time I wore a dress covered entirely in giant pink sequins to a yearbook class end-of-the-year party. Yeah, maybe I took that one a little far... Anyway, if you are looking for more ideas, I would very much appreciate a makeup tutorial from you. You always look flawless, and I'd love to get some ideas on makeup. I know nothing about makeup whatsoever. You put mascara on your cheeks, right? Nah, just kidding, I know a little more than that. But please consider a makeup tutorial!
