The next big thing: thigh high denim legwarmers. Trust me.

Grey over knee socks, Asos. Denim DIY cut-offs, Acne. Cropped grey t-shirt, H&M. Folded down army boots, Vagabond.

Yesterday, I turned my least favorite pair of Acne jeans into what's now my favorite denim cut-offs. I wanted a pair of tiny, skin-tight, almost hotpants:ish denim shorts, and that's exactly what I got! I actuallt felt kind of awesome in this outfit, and there is something about these photos that makes me think of iconic beach photos from the late 80's and early 90's - which I'm crazy about, probably because I grew up with them. Wind in the hair, cropped t-shirts, tight shorts... that's what I looked at as "sexy" women's clothing when I was eight years old, and I still do!

Oooh, I have to tell you something! You're never going to think it's half as funny as I do, and it's probably a typical "I guess you had to be there"-thing, but I still have to. OK, so I cut off those jeans, wore the shorts all day but changed into pants when I went to pick up my boyfriend at the train station last night.  He's been away working for a week, and let me tell you, I've been sooo bored. Thank God I've had you guys to keep me company! Anyways. Picture this: When we come home, I see the cut-off leg-parts of the jeans still laying on a chair. I put them on, over my pants - like these insanely weird thigh-high denim legwarmers - and ask Ronnie: "what do you think?"At first, he looks at me like I'm crazy, and then he looks relieved and says, "oh, I didn't see what it was at first. But it's a pair of jeans you cut off, right?" And I'm like, "eh, obviously...?" (You know, what else would it be?)

But then! Then! Then he says "but why did you cut them off, then? Was your ass getting too big or something?"

HE DIDN'T GET THAT I CUT THEM OFF TO TURN THEM INTO SHORTS. HE HONESTLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO WEAR THE LEG-PARTS WITHOUT THE TOP PART.

AND HE WAS OKAY WITH THAT.

I'm going to keep laughing at this for the rest of my life. Seriously. I clearly succeeded in making sure he knows I will always wear exactly what I want, and that the best thing he can do is just to accept it. How could I not love a guy who would let me go out like this (and not even say a word about it)?

"Weird? What are you talking about?! All the girls at Lookbook.nu are wearing it."

Nah, don't worry about the spelling (I still have trouble spelling wheather, I mean weather, ARGH, I mean whether, hehe). Yes, I am 14, but I'm turning 15 this year (I'm getting old -_-). Your twice my age?! No way! I thought you were 19 or 20! Mind blown. You're very welcome :)

  15. That has just made me splutter coffee all over our desk. It sounds like something my brother would say to his girlfriend.
You look beautiful. I love how even in casual clothing, you always look confident and happy. Many people feel ugly and lazy when they're not dressed all fancy.

Hey Annika, I'm in desperate need of your help; prom is coming up and I am at a brick wall - a 10,000 mile high brick wall made from impenetrable, missile proof bricks - on what to wear. I just don't see myself in the typical barbie pink satin Cinderella dress (not that there's anything wrong with Cinderella), and I don't know what to do! I find both your blog and style so inspiring and interesting, the list could go on (and that's just the I's), so I thought to myself, what would Annika do?

  19. Haha, that was jolly (OK, I don't know if anyone even uses 'jolly' anymore, but I wanted to say something else than 'funny' ;D)! And girl, YOU LOOK SMOKIN'! (don't know if anyone uses that expression anymore either :P) Your figure is just perfection; major girl-crush!
Could you please say what color/ brand your lipstick is? It suits your porcelain skin so well!
(aren't you sick of getting so many compliments??? haha)

  22. First of all: Joey and I look forward to your hilarious comments with such zeal that it's become like "Oh, we gotta do a new post! Annika might comment!". I am so so deeply jealous that you're able to make my mundane thoughts (example: "hmmm- that lady on Californication needs to lay off the botox") into hilariously genius little essays that deserve to be published immediately.

The story about the denim legwarmers is not just super funny, but a pretty interesting boyfriend/husband test. I seriously pondered trying it with Joey tonight, but I'm fairly certain he would just be all "Oh, new socks? What shall we have for dinner?". I suppose he knows me well enough to understand that denim socks are something I would probably try, mainly just to piss off all the awful human beings who live in Dallas (aka The Bowels Of Hell...don't forget, we've got our very own Pet War Criminal!).
And yes, people do get really pissed off if you dress fashionably. But sling a shotgun over your shoulder and head off to the grocery store? No problem!!

Anywho, keep commenting so Joey and I can feel incredibly cool by association!

  29. Great outfit. Nice job with the cut-offs. It can be difficult to get the right length. Also, boyfriends are so silly when it comes to fashion. At least it's entertaining. :)
